YouTube video to transcript
Paste a YouTube link and download the transcript as text, subtitles or a PDF. We import the video’s own caption track, so it takes seconds and never touches the video file.
Your first transcription is free · then 5 minutes a month · no card
From the dashboard
- Create a free account (an email code, no password, no card).
- On the Transcriptions tab, paste the video link under Transcribe from a link. Any YouTube video URL works: watch, youtu.be, Shorts, embeds.
- The import appears in the list within seconds. Download TXT, SRT, VTT, JSON or PDF with one click.
From code or an AI assistant
The same endpoint that takes media URLs takes YouTube links. The MCP server accepts them too, so Claude or ChatGPT can fetch a transcript when you paste a link in chat.
curl
curl -X POST https://api.audiotranscribr.com/v1/transcriptions \
-H "x-api-key: YOUR_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID"}'
What you get, and what you don’t
- Timestamps on every cue, so SRT and VTT line up with the video.
- The caption language you ask for when it exists (pass
language), otherwise the video’s own track; creator-made captions are preferred over auto-generated ones. - No speaker labels. Captions do not record who is talking. For speaker labels, download the audio and upload it as a normal transcription.
- Videos without captions cannot be imported and fail with
no_captions, without using up a video from your allowance. - Channels and playlists are not supported: one video per link.
How it is counted
YouTube imports are counted per video, not in minutes: each plan includes a number of videos a month alongside its hours of audio, and a two-hour video costs the same as a two-minute one. The allowance is a hard cap; upgrade for more.
Pricing
Your first transcription is free, then 5 minutes a month. Paid plans start at $9 a month for 10 hours of audio. All plans →
